GITF’s work rests on a simple principle: a child cannot learn if they are hungry, unwell, excluded or held back by their family’s circumstances. Each part of our work addresses one of those barriers, and together they form a single model of care.
Before a child in Kashirampara opens a textbook, several things need to be true. They need to have eaten. They need to be well. They need a uniform, a bag and the books to learn from. And their family needs to believe that school is worth the sacrifice.
When any of these is missing, a child’s education is at risk. So GITF does not deliver education alone. We deliver everything a child needs to learn, together, free of cost.

Quality Education
Every child has the right to a quality education.
GITF runs CBSE and State Board schools with English as the medium of instruction. Learning is activity-based and supported by ICT-enabled classrooms.
Every child receives a complete school kit (books, stationery, uniform, shoes, sweater and school bag) at no cost.
Health &
Well-being
A healthy child is a child ready to learn.
Regular medical camps provide free check-ups and immunisations for students and teachers, with follow-up care. Hygiene education and awareness programmes support lifelong healthy habits, and a safe, structured school day supports children’s emotional well-being.
Gender Equality & reducing inequality
Every girl has an equal right to complete her education.
Girls and boys learn on equal terms.
No child should be left behind because of where they were born.
GITF works where disadvantage is most concentrated: with Reang tribal children in remote North Tripura, and with low-income families in Bengaluru.
Zero Hunger
No child should learn on an empty stomach.
Every student receives nutritious meals every school day, prepared in partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation. Nutrition is treated as part of education, not an add-on.
Beyond the classroom
Exposure and opportunity
GITS has a focused teaching-learning approach, encourages activity-based learning, conducts team building activities and programmes to exhibit the talents of students. These children become well-equipped to participate in external competitions with their exposure in school. In addition, children are also taken for educational tours that allow them to explore and also understand the essence of national integration.
Pathway beyond Grade 8
GITS students can continue their education beyond Grade 8 in Guwahati, so that learning does not stop when primary schooling ends. GITF also supports students who wish to pursue higher education in the city, with funding, guidance and care.
Holistic development
The focus of GITS is not just academics, but also inculcating universal values in children such as truthfulness, compassion, purity of thought, universal brotherhood, respect for nature, and hard work. It also provides a platform to hone inherent abilities and acquire new talents.
Strengthening the community
GITS contributes to the socio-economic development of the Reang community by employing local youth and women in the school and in the school kitchen. Strong schools grow from strong communities.
Personality Development
Today’s children are tomorrow’s citizens. GITS provides an enriching learning experience to enhance the personality of the children. There is a healthy competition between students, which helps in the positive growth of children in terms of physical, emotional and psychological aspects.
