Our approach: Education

The Great India Talent School (GITS) is the first programme of GITF. It is an initiative to ensure no child is left behind in the pursuit of education for all.

GITS is in collaboration with the Government of Tripura, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, donors, and the local community. It is alignment with five Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

  • The 1 st Great India Talent School, also known as Mahan Bharat Pratibha Vidyalaya was inaugurated in Kashirampara, Tripura on 29 March 2017.
  • We started by providing education from LKG to Grade 3 with 350 students.
  • Currently, GITS Kashirampara is educating around 500 children from LKG to Grade 8.
  • Most of the children are first-generation learners.
  • Majority of them belong to the Reang tribe and are predominantly from Naisingpara and Ashapara refugee camps in Tripura.
  • These children have equal access to quality education and books like that of children in urban regions of the nation.

Health for students and community

Medical camps organized to provide free medical check-up, immunizations, etc., for students and teachers on a regular basis with appropriate follow-up.

Community empowerment

Local men and women have found employment with GITS in this area as teachers and kitchen helpers. A major chunk of the teachers are from the Reang Tribe.

Outcomes

GITF strives to uphold children’s Right to Education (RTE) by ensuring that they have access to quality education through its schools.

Alongside formal education, children are equipped with effective communication, problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking skills to help them negotiate for a better quality of life.

Children are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities, such as sports and cultural programmes, which will help them develop various skill sets.

Our contribution to the SDGs

GITS contributes directly to UN SDGs.

We Build Schools

We build Schools in communities and areas that are in need of access to Quality Education. Today’s youth need a helpful hand and right guidance at every stage. At GITS, we educate and provide School supplies free of cost to the students.

We Educate

GITS follows the CBSE and State Board syllabus, with English as the medium of instruction. The renovated school building supports ICT-enabled learning and technology-enabled teaching. GITF supports students who wish to continue their education in the city, with access to funding, guidance and care.

We Provide Nutrition

Children are served nutritious mid-day meals every school day, in partnership with the Akshaya Patra Foundation. Regular medical camps provide free check-ups and immunisations for students and teachers, with follow-up care.

We Empower

Every child receives a complete school kit: textbooks, notebooks, stationery, uniforms, shoes, socks, sweaters and a school bag. Educational tours under the NIVE Partnership give students exposure to the wider country and enrich their learning.

We Uplift Communities

GITF provides employment to members of the local community, strengthening household stability and the community’s investment in its children’s education.

We Grow

We believe that education, and employment gives people an inner strength to lead a better life. We ensure that schools run by the foundation are spread across the country to ensure no child gets left behind. Our second school will be launched in 2027 - Akshaya Vidya in Bengaluru.
